You’ve installed Facebook/TikTok Pixel, opened up Pixel Helper, and found no checkout events firing. That missing data isn’t just confusing – it feels like lost revenue hiding in plain sight. This often leads to the assumption that:

  • Events are missing
  • The pixel isn’t firing
  • Tracking is broken

But the truth is:

  • Your tracking is working perfectly.
  • Zotek is sending all checkout events via Server Events.
  • Pixel Helpers simply CANNOT detect server-side events.

In this article, we’ll explain:

  • Why Pixel Helpers fail to show checkout activity
  • How Zotek tracks your checkout events behind the scenes
  • How to test correctly so you don’t misinterpret missing data
  • Step-by-step instructions to test events using Meta’s Test Events tool

1. Pixel Helper Shows Pixel Events in Browser Only – Not Server Events

When merchants test their tracking setup, one of the biggest misconceptions is assuming the Pixel Helper should show every event – including checkout activity. In reality, both the TikTok Pixel Helper and Meta Pixel Helper can only detect browser events, not server-side events.

Here’s what actually happens on Shopify checkout:

✔️ Pixel Helpers detect browser events

❌ They cannot detect any server-side events (CAPI)

And because Shopify’s checkout environment restricts browser-based tracking, these events are often blocked due to:

  • iOS 14+ tracking limitations
  • Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention
  • Shopify checkout security sandbox
  • Ad blockers and privacy extensions
  • Browser tracking protection

This leads to a normal, expected result:

  • Browser events don’t fire on checkout
  • Pixel Helper appears “empty”
  • But Zotek is still sending all checkout events through server-side tracking, accurately and in real time

In short: Pixel Helper simply doesn’t show server events but rest assured that your tracking continues to work perfectly.

2. Zotek Sends Checkout Events via Server – Accurately and Without Being Blocked

While browser pixels often fail to fire on Shopify’s checkout, Zotek ensures that your most important conversion events are still captured – through server-side tracking.

Zotek automatically sends key checkout events, including:

  • InitiateCheckout
  • AddPaymentInfo
  • Purchase

Instead of relying on browser scripts (which are frequently blocked), these events are transmitted via secure server-to-server communication. This approach solves nearly every tracking limitation merchants struggle with:

  • Works flawlessly despite iOS 14+ restrictions
  • Cannot be blocked by browser extensions or ad blockers
  • Doesn’t require pixel code to run on Shopify’s checkout
  • Provides far more stable and accurate data than browser pixels

This is why your Pixel Helper may appear empty – but your actual tracking remains fully functional.

Server-side events bypass all browser barriers, ensuring your checkout data is captured consistently, reliably, and in real time.

3. How to Test Properly

Pixel Helpers only detect browser events, so they can’t show the full picture. To verify that your tracking is working correctly, you need to use the platforms’ own testing tools, which capture both browser and server-side events:

  • Facebook → Use Test Events
  • TikTok → Use Test Events

Below, we’ll break down the proper testing process for each platform.

3.1. How to Test Meta (Facebook) Events Properly

Testing Facebook events properly ensures that all your store actions, both browser and server-side, are tracked correctly. Here’s how to do it step by step:

Go to Events Manager → Test Events.

Add your Test Event Code inside the Zotek app.

Trigger actions on your store (view product, add to cart, checkout, purchase).

You’ll see events appear in real time, including server-side checkout events that Pixel Helper cannot detect.

This is the most accurate method Meta provides for validating Conversion API (CAPI).

3.2. How to Test TikTok Events Properly

Go to TikTok Events Manager → Test Events.

Copy your Test Event Code from the “Test Server Events” section.

Add the Test Event Code inside the Zotek app (Server-Side Config → Test Server Side Event).

Trigger actions on your store (view product, add to cart, checkout, purchase).

You’ll see all events appear in real time – including server-side checkout events that TikTok Pixel Helper cannot detect.

Final Thoughts

Proper event tracking is the foundation of effective advertising. While Pixel Helpers are useful for quick checks, they only show browser-side events and can give a misleading picture of your data. By using Facebook Test Events and TikTok Test Events along with the Zotek app, you can ensure that every action whether browser or server-side is accurately tracked.

Without verified checkout events, you’re guessing instead of growing. Proper setup not only prevents data loss or duplication but also gives you the accurate tracking you need to understand your customers, optimize campaigns, and unlock more sales.

This is so helpful. I always wonder why I can’t see purchase events in Meta Pixel Helper.
